Halli's work focuses on the relationship between the piece and the viewer. Her art spotlights the gaze of her subjects outward where it greets or confronts the viewer with the goal of invoking emotion.

To do this she is inspired by the beauty, humor and macabre of the natural world. She also utilizes historical figures, vibrant colors, allegory, classical art and pop culture.
